About The Position

NIKA is hiring for a High Voltage Electrician who will be responsible for the on-site Project Management of Muirkirk Road Complex (MRC) in Laurel, Maryland! This position is pending per contract award and start date is TBD once approved. Requirements

  • Maryland State Journeyman Electrician License (or Master Electrician) OR License issued by local jurisdiction
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety and Health
  • OSHA Lockout/Tagout (Control of Hazardous Energy) training (29 CFR 1910.147)
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety training (within last 3 years)
  • Minimum 5 years documented experience with industrial/commercial electrical systems
  • Experience with installation and repair of 13kV to 15kV electrical services
  • Experience with high-voltage testing and maintenance procedures
  • Experience with facilities 250,000+ SF
  • Experience with electrical maintenance in occupied facilities
  • Documented experience on resume with verifiable references
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Clearance Access Card (CAC)
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, preventive maintenance, installations, and replacements of medium voltage and high voltage electrical systems (13.8kV and 15kV)
  • Troubleshoot electrical distribution systems and equipment
  • Conduct infrared thermography inspections of electrical systems
  • Perform visual inspections and testing of switchgear, transformers, breakers
  • Test and maintain protective relays and metering equipment
  • Troubleshoot cable systems to locate faults, grounds, shorts, breaks
  • Use specialized test equipment (meggers, high-potential testers, power quality analyzers)
  • Perform motor megger testing on large motors (15-200 HP)
  • Obtain and analyze transformer oil samples
  • Inspect and maintain overhead and underground cable systems
  • Check condition of transformers, switches, capacitor equipment, cables
  • Maintain electrical distribution systems to avoid unexpected downtime
  • Ensure electrical infrastructure maintained per NFPA 70E requirements
  • Coordinate electrical outages with Government and facility operations
  • Maintain electrical testing documentation and records
  • Train and mentor other electricians
  • Respond to electrical emergencies 24/7
