About The Position

The High Voltage Helper/Trainee supports the High Voltage Electrical team by assisting with the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical distribution systems and utility infrastructure up to 69 kV. This entry-level position reports directly to the Lead Lineman Electrician and provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training toward qualification as a Lineman Electrician in a structured, safety-focused environment. The role involves assisting the Lead Lineman Electrician and qualified Lineman Electricians with daily tasks, supporting the maintenance, repair, and installation of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines, utility poles, and substations, and participating in switching operations and high-voltage system work under direct supervision.

Requirements

Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and under varying weather conditions.
Willingness and ability to learn high-voltage electrical systems and progress toward full Lineman Electrician qualifications.
Must be able to obtain necessary certifications and training as required for advancement.
Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and following instructions from the Lead Lineman Electrician.
Valid New Jersey driver's license or the ability to obtain one may be required.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
Pass a background check prior to hire.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in electrical construction, maintenance, or a related trade is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Lineman Electrician and qualified Lineman Electricians with daily tasks involving high-voltage electrical systems.
Support the maintenance, repair, and installation of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines, utility poles, and substations.
Participate in switching operations and high-voltage system work under direct supervision.
Help prepare work sites, stage materials, and maintain a safe and organized work area.
Learn and follow strict high-voltage safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Perform basic electrical and mechanical tasks as directed by senior personnel.
Participate in training programs and on-the-job instruction to develop technical skills.
Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
Document work activities and assist with record-keeping as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Lineman Electrician.
