About The Position

KIPP Public Schools is a national network of tuition-free public schools, and KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of this network. KIPP Jacksonville operates four schools, educating over 3,000 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in Jacksonville, Florida, and employs almost 300 full-time staff members. KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is seeking Learning Specialists (LS) for the 2026-27 school year. The Learning Specialist's primary focus is to ensure compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs), provide small group instruction, offer support facilitation in general education settings, and collaborate with families regarding the special education process. Learning Specialists typically work across multiple grade levels and are responsible for facilitating the Response to Intervention (RtI) process with staff. They will also lead regular meetings concerning student IEPs and work directly with students to help them achieve their IEP goals. Core responsibilities for all Learning Specialists include fostering a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, collaborating with their team, and building strong relationships with families. At the high school level, Learning Specialists support students through various service models, which may include co-teaching in general education classrooms (Push-In Support) to provide accommodations and academic support, delivering small-group instruction in a resource setting (Pull-Out Support) for targeted intervention, and teaching a dedicated Learning Strategies Course focused on IEP goal progress and postsecondary readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (ESE K-12)
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children
  • Passing a background check, as required by law
  • Background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse

Nice To Haves

  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress)
  • Additional certifications in K-6 or other subject area the LS supports in
  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

Responsibilities
