Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 3 or more years of classroom experience
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain from, or be in process with, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) for a valid Colorado Educator License within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess the required license and endorsement. If highly qualified by content test or semester hours, with no endorsement: applicant must possess a Colorado educator license with a passing score on a CDE approved content test or 36 semester hours in specific core content classes as determined by Human Resources.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

  • Strong customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within one month after entering position.

Responsibilities

  • Model for, co-teach with, and coach teachers and classroom aides for implementation of exemplary, effective instructional practices.
  • Provide teacher support and resources for instruction and management.
  • Carry a teaching load of 25%–50% of the instructional day (or as assigned by administration), including planning, delivering, and assessing standards-based instruction.
  • Assist in evaluating strengths and weaknesses of curricular programs and materials within the regular classroom.
  • Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate curricular materials.
  • Meet with the Principal and Assistant Principal regularly to report on progress and plan next steps.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of staff development for certified and classified personnel.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with parents and community to encourage and value their participation in the learning experience of the whole child.
  • Assist in program planning and implementation for recipient groups (e.g., 504, gifted and talented, ELL, non-categorical, special education, at-risk, etc.).
  • Assist in the implementation of the school improvement plan, including staff development.
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing student data.
  • Participate in personal professional growth opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
