POSITION The College Advisor is a key member of the leadership team dedicated to empowering AMPS students to achieve their higher education aspirations. Building upon AMPS' strong tradition of academic excellence, this role focuses on preparing students for college success by providing comprehensive guidance, support, and resources. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the college admissions and financial aid landscape.   • 1+ years of experience in college access, student advising, or related fields.

  • Proficiency with California public colleges and universities, preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
  • Previous experience in charter schools, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and Advising
  • Cultivate a supportive and goal-oriented environment centered around 100% college enrollment.
  • Oversee and optimize school-wide college application and counseling processes.
  • Conduct in-depth academic reviews to assess student eligibility for college, NCAA, and yearly course selections.
  • Deliver comprehensive college and financial aid workshops for students and families.
  • Build strong relationships with college representatives to create opportunities for students.
  • Provide individualized academic advising and support to students, including those at risk of falling behind.
  • Guide students in career exploration and internship placement.
  • Coordinate college application and acceptance processes for seniors.
  • Prepare juniors and sophomores for college readiness (e.g., PSAT analysis).
  • Manage SAT/ACT registration and college fair participation.
  • Monitor student progress, including report card review and parent/student meetings.
  • Teach college readiness courses as needed.
  • Program Management
  • Implement efficient student database systems for tracking and workflow optimization.
  • Organize and execute co-curricular programs focused on college preparation, life skills, and career development.
  • Develop and maintain engaging online platforms and resources.
  • Facilitate connections between current students and AMPS alumni.
  • Coordinate student referrals to campus support services.
  • Reporting, Research, and Data Analysis
  • Stay informed about higher education trends and best practices.
  • Collect and analyze student data to inform program improvement and student support.
  • Develop early warning systems for at-risk students.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and reporting.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
