About The Position

Liberty Common School is seeking a full-time chemistry instructor beginning August 2026. Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, is a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to Core Knowledge principles, and college-preparatory instruction. LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge, 2) the skills of learning, and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort. The chemistry instructor will have responsibility for program planning, curriculum development, and delivery of associated content instruction for high-school students, in cooperation with the school’s science department. Courses taught include conceptual chemistry, general chemistry, AP chemistry, and other courses as assigned. Applicants should be dedicated to the mastery of an academic discipline and knowledge-based curriculum. A teaching license is not required. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Full-time WORK HOURS: 35-40 hours per week COMPENSATION: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 REPORTS TO: Principal REVISION DATE: April 2026

Requirements

  • Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
  • BA/BS in chemistry or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Content knowledge is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members to improve student academic achievement.
  • Demonstrated effective classroom-management skills.
  • Ability to sit and stand (conducive to an office environment) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move loads of up to 30 pounds over short distances.
