Expectations of Assistant Coach The Assistant Coach will assist in instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The Assistant Coach will assist in providing instruction and guidance that will lead to the formulation and enhancement of self-confidence, self-discipline, good sportsmanship, acceptable social behavior, pride of accomplishment and moral values. Assistant Coach Responsibilities Collaborate effectively with the Athletic Director, Head Coach, and Athletic Department; adhere to Board of Education and District policies and job criteria. Complete the full season schedule, including league contests, and follow in-season training rules. Be a positive role model, maintain professionalism, and dress appropriately for practices and games. Arrive on time for practices and games; participate in Awards Night and support team events. Maintain proper conduct, using respectful language toward players, officials, and fans. Exhibit enthusiasm and good judgment, and be open to constructive criticism for improving coaching performance. Knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport and demonstrate proficiency in sport techniques and ensure players respond well to coaching. Promote respect through example, including appearance, behavior, and conduct at all times. Develop game strategies and motivate the team to achieve goals, while promoting good sportsmanship. Ensure proper supervision during trips and practices, and promptly report any disciplinary issues. Adapt coaching to suit athletes' skill levels and assist with developing practice schedules that enhance both individual and team growth.
