The High School 11th Grade ELA Teacher is responsible for supporting students’ success by ensuring the school day structure runs efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students. We are currently seeking a teacher to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, by the mission and standards of Belmont Charter Network. This is a 10-month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-2 years of classroom experience, preferably in urban education
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34)
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
  • Ability to provide a Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114)
  • Ability to provide a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Execute school-wide duties in accordance with school rules and procedures, such as lunch, recess, hallway, or other duties in the school as assigned.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
