About The Position

AZ Compass Prep is seeking a motivated and dynamic High School Science Teacher to join our team. This individual will create a high-quality, engaging science program that builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application. The ideal candidate builds strong relationships with students, maintains high expectations, and uses data to drive instruction so all students can succeed. This is a full-time, 10-month position.

Requirements

  • Strong content knowledge in high school science subjects
  • Ability to design engaging, hands-on, and inquiry-based lessons
  • Strong classroom management and ability to maintain a structured learning environment
  • Ability to use data to inform instruction and adjust in real time
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and staff
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Cultural awareness and ability to support a diverse student population
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Proficiency with technology, including learning platforms, data systems, and communication tools
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Science or Secondary Education
  • Valid Arizona teaching certification preferred
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card required

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction across assigned high school courses
  • Design lessons that include hands-on learning, inquiry, and real-world connections
  • Use data to guide instruction, including small group support and targeted intervention
  • Assess student learning using a variety of methods, including labs, projects, and formative checks
  • Provide timely, specific feedback and reteach as needed to ensure mastery
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date gradebooks and communicate student progress consistently
  • Build strong relationships with students and create a classroom culture of accountability and engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to improve student outcomes
  • Implement curriculum with fidelity while adapting instruction based on student needs
  • Follow and support school-wide expectations, including attendance, cell phone, and behavior policies
  • Support students in developing responsibility, leadership, and academic habits
  • Ensure safe and effective use of lab materials, equipment, and procedures
  • Complete required reports, documentation, and administrative responsibilities on time
  • Participate actively in professional learning teams, data meetings, and school initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or school leadership
