  • Associate's Degree in electronics or electronics manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Intermediate understanding of hand tools and test equipment, such as digital volt meters, and other basic electronic inspection and measurement tools.
  • Experience performing intermediate fabrication, prototyping and production of electro-mechanical systems and cables, including PCB assembly, rework & repair, and cable installation/pulls.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electronic circuit design and operation, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve fabrication and assembly problems using established guidelines, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and work instructions, and to apply appropriate fabrication methods.
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Explosives Area Aware Certification.
  • Advanced skills and understanding of fabrication, assembly, installation, inspection, and quality control for complex electronic and electo-optic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision, establish or modify guidelines and techniques within defined scope, and set priorities for multiple assignments.
  • Experience maintaining complex technical documentation for experimental or facility assemblies, including procedures, manuals, qualification and configuration records.
  • Advanced experience with CAD tools, strong ability to generate detailed 2D fabrication and assembly drawings from engineering models or design intent.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance, mentoring, or informal leadership to other technicians or technical staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills (e.g., Drill Press, Punch, Shear, Band Saw, etc.).
  • Experience with PLC Systems and I/O Drops.
  • Familiarization with Engineering Design Safety Standards (DSS) Manual.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general fabrication of electronic and electro-mechanical components and assemblies using standard hand tools, including crimpers, cutters, and soldering irons.
  • Complete fabrication, prototyping, and production of electro-mechanical systems and cables, as well as printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, rework and repair.
  • Perform electrical tasks on components and systems using established work control processes, procedures and applicable safety requirements.
  • Fabricate, assemble, disassemble and maintain electronic and electro-mechanical subsystems, working from engineering drawings, schematics, procedures, and verbal instructions.
  • Organize and track parts and assemblies, identify and communicate discrepancies and provide feedback to engineers and other technical staff.
  • Propose solutions and alternate approaches to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a high level of safety, security, and procedural compliance, including housekeeping and configuration control in fabrication and test areas.
  • Perform advanced fabrication and electrical tasks on complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems, including planning work, selecting materials and equipment, and determining appropriate fabrication and assembly methods.
  • Apply an advanced understanding of high-voltage circuits and safety standards to support testing, troubleshooting, and qualification of experimental and facility systems.
