About The Position

Hematopathologist – Seattle, WA PhenoPath Laboratories, a Quest Diagnostics Company and a national reference laboratory located in Seattle, WA, is recruiting for a board-certified Hematopathologist with 3-5 years of post-fellowship attending experience. The Hematopathologist will review and sign-out: consultation cases involving all areas of adult hematopathology client-directed hematopathology testing including 10-color flow cytometry, IHC, FISH, and PCR material associated with contract research activities for biopharma, a growth area of PhenoPath’s business.

Requirements

  • Board certification in anatomic and/or clinical pathology
  • Fellowship training and board certification in Hematopathology
  • 3-5 years post-fellowship sign out experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of histology, cytology, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry in the generation of hematopathology diagnoses

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with relevant laboratory techniques, including fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and cytogenetics desired

Responsibilities

  • Functioning in a collegial manner with the other PhenoPath pathologists and scientists, including occasional participation in the Saturday flow cytometry on-call responsibilities, coordinating time away from PhenoPath to ensure adequate service coverage, and providing timely review of difficult cases when a second opinion is sought.
  • Assuming a leadership role in PhenoPath’s Flow Cytometry or Immunohistochemistry Laboratories, with participation in medical oversight of operations, assay validations, and proficiency testing
  • Ready availability to customers, PhenoPath staff, and staff from other Quest facilities.
  • Participation on PhenoPath committees or larger Quest committees, aiding in the development of PhenoPath informational/marketing materials, presenting medical/scientific information to PhenoPath clients and staff, and potentially assisting in manuscript presentation.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, employees, clients, vendors, and the company.
  • Contributing to the execution and reporting of relevant contract research projects.
  • Maintaining licensing/accreditation and keeping abreast of the hematopathology literature via participation in professional organizations/conferences and accumulating adequate CME/SAM hours.
  • Supporting the medical director in maintaining a safe work environment.
