About The Position

PathGroup is seeking an AP/CP Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Hematopathologist to join our collaborative, hospital-based pathology team in Memphis, Tennessee. This full-time position offers the opportunity to practice complex, high-level diagnostic medicine in a digitally advanced, academically engaged environment. The primary focus of this role is hematopathology; however, as part of a collaborative subspecialty team, the selected candidate will also participate in general surgical pathology sign-out. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, collaborative, and interested in meaningful clinical practice within a supportive, physician-led culture. Highlights Fully digital practice, except cytology and bone marrow biopsies Complex surgical oncology and biopsy case exposure No autopsy requirement Strong, collaborative subspecialty team. No isolated sign-out Excellent administrative support from hospital leadership Close collaboration with surgical and medical departments Teaching and academic involvement available (not required) Stable, well-established department with strong hospital advocacy About the Practice Hospital-based pathology team supporting a major regional medical center Average volume per pathologist: 20–40 cases per day Case mix includes hematopathology along with complex surgical oncology, routine surgical pathology, biopsy pathology, and non-gynecologic cytology Frozen sections performed; ROSE coverage provided FNAs interpreted (not performed) Entire team is subspecialty-trained; occasional send-outs 7 pathologists physically based in Memphis Call taken in one-week blocks, split equally among Memphis-based pathologists Support staff, including Pathologists’ Assistants, high-complexity grossers, and PA students, and laboratory medical directorships About Memphis, TN Memphis offers a unique blend of culture, accessibility, and community. Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • AP/CP Board Certification or Board Eligibility
  • Eligible for Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas medical licenses
  • Excellent diagnostic and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to collaborative, team-based pathology service

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in Hematopathology strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Primary sign-out of hematopathology cases
  • Participation in general surgical pathology sign-out as part of a subspecialty team
  • Interpretation of non-gynecologic cytology
  • Perform frozen sections and intraoperative consultations
  • Participate in ROSE coverage
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and participate in tumor boards
  • Support quality initiatives and multidisciplinary discussions
