The vision for the Allina Health Cancer Institute centers on value creation through coordination of the full continuum of oncology - from prevention/ detection through treatment and survivorship. Importantly, the Institute oversees cancer care across the entire health system, ensuring that consistently exceptional outcomes are delivered in any setting where patients access cancer care.

Key Position Details:

The Allina Health Cancer Institute is seeking a Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the practice.

This is a 1.0 FTE position based at the Allina Health Lakeville Specialty Center,
This role will also provide patient care as needed in Minneapolis at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, and the position also includes inpatient rounding one in every six weekends.
The team includes Hematologist/Oncologists and Advanced Practice Providers.
In this role, you will be supporting solid tumors and hematology patients.
Your responsibilities will include seeing patients in the clinic and covering the infusion center.

Requirements

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant Program required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP candidates)
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - ANCC - American Nurse Credentialing Center or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty upon hire required.
• ACLS-BLS certification required within 180 Days
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Nice To Haves

• New Graduates may be considered. Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology.

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
• Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
• Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
• Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
• Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
• Refers for specialty care when determined.
• Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team
• Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
• Acts as resource to members of the team.
• Works with primary care team for program development.
• Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
• Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
