About The Position

Thank you for your interest in the Health Economics and Market Access (HEMA) Analyst III position with Boston Scientific’s Interventional Oncology & Embolization (IO&E) division. Do you have a passion for improving access to care? A fundamental priority for this position will be supporting the development and implementation of health policy and reimbursement initiatives, through collaboration with cross-functional colleagues and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, health care administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in health care, preferably with experience working with oncology medical technologies in the medical device arena.
  • Mastery of platform tools and software applications, separately and in combination, such as IQVIA, flat files and Medicare data files, XLS, Tableau, PowerBI, Domo, with ability to translate complex reimbursement and economic data into compelling narratives in partnership with marketing and key business stakeholders, and routinely deliver integrated data visualization tools for specific inquiries, KPIs, trends, dashboards, presentations, calculators, etc. for a variety of users.
  • Ability to develop dashboard trends on key products, disease states in the portfolio and anticipate growth in areas that NPD should consider for innovation.
  • Technical expertise in relational databases, data modeling, database design, and data mining, with strong SQL proficiency and familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and AWS.
  • Proficient in data visualization and dashboard development, with hands-on experience using tools such as Power BI and Tableau, and the ability to integrate and optimize visualizations using cloud data sources like Snowflake and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, including health policy trends, payment systems across all settings of care (inpatient, outpatient, physician, ASC), associated documentation/coding requirements, and experience with CMS rulemaking for each setting.
  • Ability to advance initiatives independently and in a fast-paced matrix environment with minimal supervision.
  • Can-do attitude with attention to detail, and oriented to precision, accuracy, continuous learning and developing skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communications skills and Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, iPad applications).
  • Alignment with BSC Values and IO&E DNA.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in public health, health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, health care administration, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with oncology related products.
  • Coding certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Coder).
  • Demonstrated responsiveness and sense of urgency when pursuing goals and completing tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, manage multiple projects.
  • Experience working as part of both functional and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Primary owner and driver of Interventional Oncology & Embolization HEMA analytics and analytics resources to address reimbursement, coding, and documentation inquiries from divisional sales force and key external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, investigator sites, professional societies).
  • Utilize knowledge of available data assets (e.g., Medicare claims data, CMS payment information) to identify research opportunities and define/execute analyses in support of business unit objectives.
  • Monitor and assess health policy updates impacting the business’ emerging technologies and commercially marketed products. Develop related communications to inform senior management.
  • Recommend, select, maintain, and update health economic and reimbursement resources for the IO&E business unit, including coding guides and reimbursement calculators.
  • Develop and promote analytical best practices within and across product franchises.
  • Research and apply new techniques for advanced analyses, create, monitor, review, and improve methods and techniques continuously.
  • Provides input into reimbursement strategies for new product launches and product portfolio planning (e.g., upstream team requests several ad hoc requests about different indications and the utilization of therapies).
  • Provide appropriate in-service training to sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal to increase awareness and understanding of health economics and reimbursement competencies and their role in supporting a product’s success.
  • Collaborate with functional colleagues to inform strategic activities related to health economic research, health policy and business development.
