About The Position

The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four heavy civil construction companies, providing services including infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, and site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States. They undertake a wide variety of heavy civil projects such as highways, bridges, DOT work, power plants, dams and reservoirs, and underground utilities. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining construction equipment to facilitate the successful execution of construction and industrial services projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of equipment operation, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience operating construction equipment.
  • Proficient in operating a variety of construction equipment.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment operation.
  • Ability to interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with GPS and other relevant construction technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Attention to detail in executing tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer service mindset for interacting with project stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and follow instructions.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and software used in the industry.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, and operating equipment for extended periods.
  • Mental demands may include working under pressure, managing multiple tasks, and adapting to changing project requirements.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in equipment operation is preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain construction equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, scrapers, compactors, etc.
  • Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Safely load, transport, and unload materials using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Collaborate with project teams to coordinate equipment operations and ensure project deadlines are met.
