About The Position

Alpha Inc. is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to run excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, graders (and other heavy civil equipment) for mass excavation, trenching, utility excavation, and finish grading. You’ll work under a Foreman and alongside a tight crew to keep production moving—safely, accurately, and efficiently—while meeting project specs. Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator with mass excavation experience.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate: excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, and similar equipment.
  • Strong understanding of excavation safety, trenching practices, and jobsite hazard awareness.
  • Ability to interpret drawings/blueprints and follow grade/excavation specs.
  • Solid communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Valid CDL Class A (Required) with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with GPS systems (Trimble Earthworks preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, graders, rock trucks, and other equipment.
  • Dig trenches/ditches, complete utility excavation, and support pipe/drainage/utility installation with accurate backfill.
  • Grade and level large sites for foundations, drainage, and site prep.
  • Use GPS machine control (Trimble Earthworks preferred) for grading, excavation, and mapping tasks.
  • Perform daily safety checks, operate in compliance with all safety procedures, and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance (fueling, checking fluids, wear items) and report issues/breakdowns to the Foreman.
  • Coordinate with crew members to ensure alignment, safe movement, and quality completion.
  • Read and interpret plans/blueprints to execute grading and excavation per specifications.
  • Assist with loading/unloading/spreading materials (soil, gravel, rock) as needed.
