About The Position

This position involves operating various heavy equipment, including 10 to 25 ton dump trucks, dozers, motor graders, front-in loaders, vibratory compactors, scrapers, forestry mowers (FECON), track hoes, agricultural tractors, back hoes, semi-trucks, and trailers. The primary purpose is to complete LRAM projects, focusing on soil stabilization and vegetation management at Fort Knox, KY. Key duties include executing daily heavy equipment operation tasks for LRAM projects, conducting repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects to support Army training missions (such as mechanized brush and small tree removal, thinning, clearing, gravel and aggregate application, rip rap application, articulated/cable concrete application), and creating/maintaining turnouts and diversion ditches along tactical use maneuver and movement trails. The operator is also responsible for performing operational maintenance and inspections on equipment for readiness and safety, making minor adjustments, and tracking projects for monthly/quarterly reports. Additionally, the role requires making equipment operation safety decisions and assisting in developing strategies for maintaining and repairing army lands to safe and sustainable conditions, fulfilling other duties as necessary for the ITAM program and DPTMS mission.

Requirements

  • Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance
  • Candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check
  • Physically able to work outdoors and perform strenuous labor under all weather conditions (e.g., heat and humidity)
  • Able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly
  • 2 years professional experience
  • High school Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent
  • Experience with running and maintaining heavy equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid CDL Type A
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Day to Day Heavy Equipment Operation Tasks to complete LRAM projects
  • Operate equipment including, but not limited to: 10 to 25 ton dump trucks (25 ton off road dumps at some locations) dozers, motor graders, front-in loaders, agricultural tractors, vibratory compactors, scrapers, forestry mowers (FECON), track hoes, and back hoes
  • Conduct activities to execute repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects in support of Army training missions, such as Mechanized Brush and Small Tree Removal; Thinning, Clearing (Rotary Cutter, FECON, Hydro-ax) Gravel and Aggregate Application; Rip Rap Application; Articulated/Cable Concrete Application
  • Create and/or Maintain Turnouts and Diversion Ditches along tactical use maneuver and movement trails
  • Perform operational maintenance and inspections on equipment for operational readiness and safety
  • Make minor adjustment and perform operator maintenance on equipment operated
  • Track project for monthly/quarterly reports
  • Fulfill other duties and assignments as necessary to fulfill the mission and sub-missions of the ITAM program and DPTMS as approved by the Installation Point of Contact
  • Make equipment operation safety decisions
