Operates heavy equipment, performing pre-operation inspections, identifying and reporting equipment issues to the Lead Mechanic for repair. The operator is responsible for refueling equipment and adding fluids as needed, and ensuring compliance with company policies, safety, and maintenance procedures. This role involves operating various heavy equipment such as scrapers, wheel type or crawler tractors with a dozer blade, blade or bucket attachment, compactors, roll-off refuse trucks, loaders, motor graders, and pneumatic tire scrapers. The operator compiles daily equipment reports, controls well fires, communicates with dispatchers regarding delays, unsafe conditions, accidents, and equipment breakdowns, and stays informed of weather conditions. They are expected to continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service, including working closely with traffic control spotters to identify fill areas for dumping solid waste.
