About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. Successful applicants must have at least 3 year’s mechanical knowledge, diesel/gas experience, and/or technical training. Additional experience with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus. Responsibilities Prior experience working on CAT, KOMATSU, JOHN DEERE is preferred including diagnostics, maintenance and repair of diesel and gas engines, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical systems on heavy grading and paving equipment Strong technical background which may include technical schools, military and or dealership training is a plus Familiarity with tools and procedures necessary for diagnosis and repair of heavy construction equipment and trucks Possess problem solving skills essential to the diagnostics and repair of heavy construction and support equipment Possess or have the ability to learn basic computer skills as required to access parts and service manuals stored on electronic media Perform necessary job duties with minimal supervision Document work as required Routine inspection, assemble, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and support equipment including gas and diesel engines, transmissions and drives including hydraulic and electrical systems Welding and cutting operations as required Must furnish all basic tools for job Possess a valid Arizona driver's license and clean MVR (Commercial Driver License preferred) Follow all company safety policies and practices Perform other related duties as assigned Achen-Gardner Construction provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a construction setting
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience using equipment maintenance or repair software preferred
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Functions essential to this position include but are not limited to standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, bending, walking and lifting heavy objects.
  • Random alcohol and drug testing as required per DOT regulations.

Nice To Haves
