About The Position

Our multidisciplinary team combines the expertise of structural and geotechnical engineers with experienced drillers, construction managers, geologists, and quality management specialists. Crux Subsurface is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support our in-house fabrication shop with emphasis on hydraulic systems repair and welding/fabrication. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment while performing custom fabrication work to meet operational needs. Hourly: $30.00 - $40.00 DOE Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Coverage, HSA/FSA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Basic Life Insurance, EAP, Voluntary Benefits, and Identity Theft Protection. Requirements

  • Ability to read dial calipers and indicators.
  • Required minimum of 1 year fabrication experience in a professional shop setting.
  • Must be proficient in GMAW and FCAW of mild steel, TIG/MIG of aluminum preferred.
  • Must be able to consistently produce quality welds that are structural and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Required experience in hydraulics.
  • Required to provide own hand tools and toolbox (bottom cabinet type minimum). Required tools include sockets/wrenches from ¼ to 1-1/8, full screwdriver set, pliers, etc. (typical professional mechanic tool set).
  • Required to provide own welding hood and steel toed boots.
  • Experience with blueprints.
  • Ability to follow Crux outlines procedures and learn new processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic repair, plumbing and design/implementation in support of specialty drilling and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform MIG welding of mild steel and alloys.
  • Perform TIG and MIG aluminum welding.
  • Inspects equipment components to ensure that components are in safe working condition.
  • Understand carious weld form symbols on blueprints and understand size of fillet forms.
  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Appropriately uses various metal working equipment such as lathe, mill, drill press, surface grinder, etc.
  • Performs routine service, maintenance, and repair to equipment.
  • Performs other shop duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Repair and maintain field equipment.
