About The Position

Tucker Paving Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Lowboy/Transport Driver with a valid Class A CDL to safely transport heavy construction equipment, materials, and machinery to and from job sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in equipment operation and maintenance, with the ability to work safely and efficiently in various outdoor conditions. This role is physically demanding and requires operating and loading a range of heavy equipment for an Underground Utility and Civil Construction environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience hauling heavy equipment with a Lowboy or Transport truck.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Valid Class A CDL (required).
  • Clean driving record required.
  • DOT medical card required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, dispatch, and field teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret delivery instructions, maps, and safety documentation.
  • Ability to calculate load weights, distances, and tie-down requirements.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and make safe, sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong situational awareness and understanding of job site hazards.
  • Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for logs, schedules, and communication apps.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Lowboy/Transport truck to load, secure, and transport heavy construction equipment to job sites.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly chained, tied down, and secured in accordance with DOT and company safety regulations.
  • Inspect truck, trailer, and equipment prior to each haul; report maintenance needs immediately.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, rollers, and other machinery as needed for loading/unloading.
  • Assist crews on job sites when required, maintaining a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and transportation documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and field teams regarding schedules and equipment needs.
  • Follow all company safety policies and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support field operations.
