The Lowboy Driver will be responsible for operating a tractor with a lowboy trailer, safely loading and unloading heavy machinery, and ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations. This role requires confident heavy-haul operation, a thorough understanding of load securement practices, and the capability to transport a diverse range of light and heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Lowboy Driver typically does not have supervisory responsibilities. However, they may be required to provide guidance and support to new hires or less experienced drivers. Duties and Responsibilities: Safely operate a tractor and lowboy trailer to transport heavy equipment, such as excavators, scrapers, loaders, and other oversized machinery, to and from various project sites across our oil and gas, civil, and construction service divisions. Load and unload heavy equipment onto the lowboy trailer using ramps or hydraulic detachable gooseneck (RGN) systems, ensuring proper positioning and weight distribution. Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other approved securement devices in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies. Inspect the truck, trailer, and securement equipment before and after each shift to ensure safe operating condition and compliance with safety standards. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to traffic laws and oversize load requirements. Communicate effectively with reporting manager, field supervisors, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues. Obtain and comply with necessary permits for oversized or overweight loads as required. Complete required paperwork, such as delivery tickets, pre- and post-inspection on the tractor and trailer every day, and order permits. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck and trailer, both inside and out. Report any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns to maintenance personnel or supervisors promptly. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations governing transportation and heavy haul operations.
