About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Fleet Supervisor in King George, VA is a Monday–Friday, day‑shift role responsible for supervising and providing direct leadership to technicians, managing workflow, and assigning daily tasks. The position oversees 5–6 full‑time employees, including Heavy Equipment Technicians and Administrative Support staff. Ideal candidates will bring prior supervisory or management experience, hands‑on knowledge of heavy equipment (Yellow Iron), and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • 4 years years of relevant work experience. (in addition to education requirements)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc) rarely;
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements occasionally;
  • This job operates in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
  • In order to travel by air or access federal property, federal law requires individuals have a REAL ID or an acceptable alternative. This position may require the successful candidate to travel by air for business reasons, or service federal property. Accordingly, successful candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID, or TSA approved alternative.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of employees in the maintenance shop.
  • Coordinates and supervises all maintenance work and repairs, and monitors progress and quality.
  • Reviews driver repairs and other maintenance requests and prepares work order documents.
  • Performs mechanical duties as needed.
  • Monitors inventory of replacement parts and restocks as needed.
  • Oversees personnel including coaching, training, evaluating employee performance, and conducting disciplinary action as needed. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies and safety regulations.
  • Creates and submits reports as necessary.
