Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or Associate degree and six (6) years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or A valid California Community College Credential; or The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Membership in professional HVAC /R organizations
Additional licenses and/or certifications including: EPA Section 608, Type 1 & 2; California Licensed Contractor C20 and/ or C38; North American Technician Excellence ( NATE ) Certification in the following areas: Air Conditioning; Heat Pumps; Gas Furnace; Air Distribution; Earned Refrigeration Service Engineers Society ( RSES ) status by passing the: Certificate Member Exam (CM) and/ or a Certificate Member Specialist Exam(s) ( CMS ); Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association ( RETA ), Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator ( CARO ) and/ or Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator ( CIRO ); to a lesser extent, Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute ( ARI ) Industry Competency Exam ( ICE ) and/ or Energy Service Company ( ESCO ) entry-level technician examinations passed
