About The Position

ASRC Federal Field Services provides logistical support at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in North Charleston (FLETC Federal Complex). We are looking for an HVAC Mechanic to join our team. Description: Primarily responsible for leading installs, repairs, and maintenance on variety of equipment including but not limited to refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, pumps, hermetic compressors and intake and exhaust fans. Understands refrigeration cycle, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using a manifold gauge set, pressure/ temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and daily trouble shooting. Perform refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging. Must be able to install, repair, adjust, maintain, and trouble shoot the following equipment: mini-split systems, refrigeration controls, compressors, heat pumps, split systems, package units, electric motors -- single and three phase, electric motor controls -- contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, and thermostats. Ability to use a multi-meter and megger to read voltage, current, and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot electrical circuits. Must be able to proficiently perform soldering and brazing. Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to commercial chillers and their ancillary equipment (i.e., cooling towers and air handlers; flat plate heat exchanges, motors, pumps, variable frequency drives, instrumentation and controls associated with both, including tear down and rebuild. Operating, installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC equipment. Estimating time and materials. Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings and technical manuals on all existing HVAC systems. Other maintenance related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have minimum 2 years’ experience as an HVAC Mechanic.
  • Must possess and maintain an EPA and ASHRA Refrigerant Certification.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must maintain a valid REAL ID or U.S. issued Passport.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to climb, kneel, crawl, lift arms, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and physical.
  • Must have availability M-F, 7am – 4pm - occasional altered shifts, though rare.
