About The Position

Function  Perform heat-treating operations to harden/temper or anneal a variety of details and assemblies. Typical Responsibilities  Follow specified procedures to harden, temper, age or anneal details, using furnaces, ovens, salt baths, quenching tanks, refrigerators, and other associated equipment.  Change oven and furnace recording charts.  Determine proper heats, quenches and time cycles from charts, instructions or specifications, and set controls accordingly.  Under direction of supervisor or working leader, assist with steel heat treating or carburizing.  Make additions to glycol and oil quenches.  Use Barcol Rockwell hardness check and conductivity meter.  Perform other related duties, generally of a less skilled nature, such as sand blast, degreasing, vapor blast, etc., as required; refer only questionable conditions or recurring difficulties to working leader or supervision.  Follow all rules and regulations to assure full compliance to company safety practices using company provided lifting equipment, hoist, tools, straps etc. to meet safety regulations and prevent injuries in carry out assigned tasks.  Perform operator checklist as required and comply with all EH&S procedures.  As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices daily.

Requirements

  • Requires ability to work from ordinary drawings, specifications, and heat treat tables or charts, instruction sheets or oral instructions to obtain information and read and adjust controls for necessary time and temperature.
  • Requires reading information such as part numbers, types of alloys, quantities, etc., from travelers, charts, and specifications.
  • Equivalent to short training course.
  • Must maintain current certification(s) as required.
  • Six months to one year experience.
