This position is responsible for performing the required heating and cooling operations necessary to impact physical properties in forgings to conform to our customer specifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and implement long term solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and shop math.
  • Possess basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to withstand heat for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, bend and lift weights to 64 lbs.
  • Manufacturing environment with heat, noise, dust, and vibration

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hardness testing
  • Knowledge of heat-treating practices and procedures
  • Knowledge/use of thermocouple wire/probes
  • Prior experience with heavy industrial equipment
  • Familiar with industrial furnaces and components
  • Working knowledge of metallurgical concepts

Responsibilities

  • Prepares furnace loads in accordance with detailed furnace load map.
  • Program furnace temperature controls for type of material and process; monitor furnace cycles adjust as needed, record temperature readings.
  • Generates/updates required reports to document process parameters.
  • Prepares and assembles load thermocouple.
  • Load forgings into heat treat furnace and remove from furnace after required heating using a combination of manipulators and forklifts.
  • Setup, operate and troubleshoot multiple heat treat furnaces.
  • Transport completed furnace load to appropriate cooling station, process forgings through quench and cool operations.
  • Properly calibrate all equipment.
  • Evaluate and straighten tempered parts as required in accordance with established practices.
  • Operates Brinell/Rockwell hardness testing equipment determining the hardness of forgings after heat treatment, record results in accordance with established specifications.
  • Works from specifications, charts, detailed work instructions, etc.
  • Work in cooperation with all fellow employee- owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere.
