For more about the organization and its activities, please visit https://sustainablewestchester.org/. 100% Scholarship - No Cost to Participants Sustainable Westchester is recruiting applicants for two career training programs offered by Healthy Home Academy (HHA). These programs are offered at no cost to participants. These programs are designed for individuals interested in starting a career in the clean energy and building trades, with a focus on improving home comfort, efficiency, and sustainability. This is a career training and job-readiness program, not a class. Participants who complete the program will be prepared for entry-level roles in the field and will receive job placement support. Training includes: Building science fundamentals related to heating and cooling Basics of HVAC and heat pump systems Installation, maintenance, and system operation concepts Hands-on field training with real equipment Program length: Approximately 7 weeks
Requirements
- Be a resident of a state-designated Disadvantaged Community (DAC). DACs are communities identified by New York State as facing higher environmental, health, and economic burdens. Please use this link to search for your address and determine if you live within a DAC.
- Be physically able to perform hands-on work, including lifting to 50 lbs and standing or working on your feet for up to 8 hours per day
- Have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Be interested in pursuing a long-term career, not short-term or temporary work
