About The Position

The Hearing Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of a high-volume caseload of PIP arbitration cases. The position requires a candidate with a strong attention to detail, outstanding negotiation/ADR skills, and extensive knowledge of New York PIP case law and fee schedule.

Requirements

  • Should possess a college degree, Paralegal certificate or equivalent degree in a legal field.
  • Ability to draft complex motions, discovery and pleadings
  • Minimum 5-7 years of practical experience & knowledge of NY PIP litigation and/or arbitration practices.
  • Extensive experience in conducting PIP Hearings
  • Familiarity with American Arbitration rules and procedures
  • Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Outstanding Negotiation /Advocacy skills
  • Must be proficient with computer software and legal operating systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Applicant should be able to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently

Responsibilities

  • Previous New York No-Fault Arbitration experience required
  • Foster teamwork to create a collaborative environment of partnership, quality service and superior organizational skills that support our company culture statement
  • Identify and implement advocacy strategies to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare PIP pleadings and arbitration submissions.
  • Ability to carry a significant and complex caseload of no-fault ADR cases from referral date to resolution/hearing date.
  • Perform legal research on all aspects of PIP litigation/ADR
  • Appear for PIP Arbitration Hearings though American Arbitration Association
  • Upload documents to AAA platform
  • Perform basic fee schedule calculations pursuant to NYS Worker’s Compensation Fee Schedule, understanding of CPT Codes, and understanding of medical terminology,
  • Review AR-1 submissions
  • Input and maintain information into case management system and ensure data integrity
  • Review medical records
  • Draft reports
  • Diary deadline dates, appearances, hearing dates, etc.
  • Significant communication with claim department
  • Execute tactics to ensure workforce efficiency and adherence to schedules
  • Handle special projects as they arise
  • Ability to perform the above duties independently with minimal supervision
