About The Position

Our firm is seeking an experienced Hearing Representative with a strong background in California Workers’ Compensation Law. The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing clients at hearings, conferences, and trials before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). This role involves preparing cases, negotiating settlements, and providing effective advocacy on behalf of injured workers or employer/insurance clients, depending on the firm’s alignment. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, communicates clearly, and is committed to delivering excellent service. The position requires the ability to commute to our Los Angeles office and attend hearings as needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Certified Hearing Representative per CCR §10774 (if applicable), or equivalent WCAB appearance experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in California Workers’ Compensation cases
  • Strong knowledge of WCAB procedures, DWC regulations, and California Labor Code
  • Ability to analyze legal documents, medical reports, and settlement issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to WCAB locations as needed
  • Bilingual in Spanish required
  • Proficiency with legal software such as EAMS, MerusCase, or Filevine preferred
  • Strong negotiation and case valuation skills; experience with applicant or defense firms a plus

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, status conferences, lien conferences, and mandatory settlement conferences at WCAB.
  • Prepare exhibits, documents, settlement demands, and trial briefs.
  • Negotiate settlements, including Stipulations, Compromise and Releases (C&Rs), and vocational rehabilitation claims.
  • Review and analyze medical reports, deposition transcripts, subpoenaed records, and case files to determine case value and appropriate legal strategy.
  • Maintain case status and documentation in the case management system.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, lien claimants, and adjusters.
  • Appear before various WCAB district offices as needed, often traveling regionally.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical obligations under state bar rules and workers' comp regulations.
  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation and support in complex cases, when applicable.
