About The Position

Goldbelt Apex LLC seeks a highly experienced Occupational Health Specialist to spearhead cutting-edge research and innovation within the Defense Health Agency Hearing Center of Excellence. This opportunity will allow you to pioneer the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing and balance injuries. The DHA Hearing Center of Excellence (HCE) is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Hearing Health Promotion & Education Coordinator to lead initiatives aimed at raising awareness and educating the public about hearing health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs, outreach campaigns, and resources to promote hearing conservation and prevention of hearing loss. This role requires expertise in public health communication, program development, and a strong passion for hearing health.

Masters’ Degree or higher in a scientific field such as Public Health, Hearing Sciences, or Audiology
Minimum twenty (20) years’ experience in clinical and senior leadership or consultant role.
Experience contributing to the development of targeted messaging and education strategies to improve hearing health knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors among Service members and Veterans utilizing rigorous scientific methodologies in behavior change sciences.
Experience with assessing current materials by state-of-the-science methods (aligned with work ongoing in HCE studies as well as targeted small focus groups); revise materials according to results of assessments; and c) develop new materials around an evidence-based approach to maximize the program’s ability to affect behavior change in our service members.
Experience with conducting literature reviews on hearing health promotion and effective messaging and education methods targeting service members and Veterans. Develop summary matrices and reports of findings.
Must be familiar with DoD and the MHS.
Ability to obtain and maintain up to a secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

Doctoral degree in Audiology preferred.
Extensive experience, knowledge or demonstrated expertise in the disciplines of behavioral medicine, behavior change, translational sciences, training & education, health communications, public health education, knowledge acquisition, evaluation, evidence-based tool development, dissemination and/or implementation sciences.

Responsibilities

Designing Educational Materials/Program using theoretical frameworks and best practices to create effective messaging. The suite of educational materials should include materials that are useable in a variety of settings (e.g. during an appointment, take-home literature, etc.), easily scalable (not cost-prohibitive) to be rolled out Enterprise-wide and with mature use-cases developed (based on realistic constraints from needs assessment), as well as a matrix to categorize Service Members into risk groups and choose the most relevant materials for them.
Conducting cost-benefit analyses of projected outcomes for changed behavior compared to cost for messaging and educational program development/execution.
Conducting a Needs Assessment, including interviews (or focus groups) with clinicians and leadership to determine needs at the programmatic level; include results from Comprehensive Hearing Health Program studies on service members’ current knowledge gaps, as well as an environmental scan of existing educational materials.
Conducting Strategic Analysis: begins with the submission and review of proposed ideas, solutions, or innovations that address the identified gaps. A business case for the solution is built using available evidence, expert opinions, feasibility, and other metrics.

Conducting focus groups and interviews: during the development of materials, end users (SMEs, active duty SMs at all ranks and in various occupations/Services) should be engaged at all stages of the materials design.
Conducts Dissemination activities: involves sharing of the knowledge solution with target audiences through planned strategies. Well-defined target audiences, carefully selected communication channels, current environmental scans, and customization of materials are core components of dissemination.
Conducts Implementation activities: seeks to integrate a knowledge solution into clinical and/or operational practice. Planning that is tailored to the local environment and uses a phased approach to allow for the refinement of procedures on a systemic and local level. Successful implementation produces individual and organizational behavior changes required to achieve the desired outcomes.
Evaluation and Monitoring of the effectiveness and impact of the model, processes and knowledge solution occur throughout and include feedback loops to ensure continuous improvement.
Developing targeted messaging and education strategies for deployment in DoD and VA settings
Developing outreach strategies to other Federal, commercial, private advocacy groups and international organizations that would jointly foster worldwide DoD awareness of the organization's mission to generate their participation in collaboration to improve hearing protection and noise reduction.
Preparing long and short-range plans for application selection, systems development, systems maintenance, and production activities and for necessary support resources.
Contribute to the development of congressional-level and other high-level briefings and reports in support of HCE leadership requirements.
Utilizing dissemination, implementation, and adoption and/or change management best practices to share existing knowledge/technology translation documents with targeted audiences to promote a common standard for understanding the elements of translation.
Aligning with existing relevant DHA, HCE and MHS processes and utilizing the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Lifecycle Knowledge Management System (PLKMS)
Supporting MHS communities of interest/practice as directed by the Government.
Evaluating the cost effectiveness of projects and identifying opportunities for replication or redirection of programming based on new areas of need.
Advising on the feasibility of new technologies and potential new initiatives for prevention, treatment, or evaluation of hearing and balance disorders
Contributing to internal and partnership-developed knowledge products and state-of the-science analyses through authorship, co-authorship, editing, review, and publication.
