General Description Under general direction, is responsible for eligibility determination for the federally funded Heating Energy Assistance Program. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in business, accounting, finance or other related areas.
  • Credentials: First Aid and CPR within 90 days after being hired and recertified every two years as needed.
  • Experience: 1 year experience in working within program guidelines.
  • Strong verbal, written and telephone communication skills, ability to multi-task and attention to detail are required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Evaluation eligibility and applications services to applicants for HEAP.
  • Interviews clients either in person or by phone to obtain housing, demographic, and income information.
  • Assists individuals in providing required documentation and evidence of income in to conduct an accurate eligibility determination.
  • Responds to heating and utility emergency situations.
  • Performs data-entry functions.
  • Assists with Outreach and Publicity for the program in partnership with DHS.
  • Assists in promoting the HEAP program to various community organizations and coalitions.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure tidiness of the office. Responsible for following COVID guidelines, including PPE, sanitization and upkeep of work area.
  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
  • Other duties as assigned
