WPHW is a non-profit organization that serves four federally recognized tribes located in five communities: the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Aroostook Band of Mi'kmaq, the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township, the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point, and the Penobscot Nation. Wabanaki traditions, language, and culture guide our approach and describe the ways we live in harmony with each other and the land we collectively share. Services are available to community members living on and off-reservation across the State of Maine. Position Summary : The Healthy Living Manager leads culturally centered health and wellness initiatives that uplift indigenous knowledge, traditions and community strengths. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating and evaluating programs that promote healthy eating, active living and commercial tobacco prevention across Indigenous communities. They work collaboratively with Tribal Leaders, Elders, youth community organizations and health professionals to ensure programming is respectful, community driven and aligned with cultural values. The Healthy Living Manger leads a team of five Healthy Living Educators. They are supervised by the Director of Our Sacred Relations and work alongside the Food Sovereignty and Environmental Health Teams.
