NOTE: The full salary for the Healthy Building Specialist position is $69,889.04 to $111,639.06 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The full hiring range for the Senior Healthy Building Specialist is $76,877.06 to $122,804.24 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience. In addition to the duties below, the Senior Healthy Building Specialist is: An experienced level position with a minimum of 5 years of experience Includes minimal oversight in making complex decisions. Will have a higher level of technical expertise and knowledge related to healthy building environments, planning, program coordination, policy change, and development. This announcement will be used to fill a total of 1 vacancy, at either the Healthy Building Specialist or Senior Healthy Building Specialist level. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:The Healthy Building Specialist provides technical expertise on a wide range of public health concerns that may arise in public, private and home settings such as indoor air, radon, mold, occupational health, elevated blood lead levels, methamphetamine contamination, noise, and general housing issues. This position performs site assessments, conducts investigations, and provides guidance and consultation to the public, businesses, and other agencies. This position will collaborate and proactively engage with both internal and external partners and stakeholders to find interventions and solutions, and will recommend appropriate policies related to environmental, health, and safety issues. In addition to bringing technical expertise, this position will bring regulatory knowledge, innovative thinking, initiative, relationship building and strong communication skills to help creatively solve problems and address emerging health issues. This is a technical specialist with 'limited' or 'intermediate' experience in which the employee is learning and mastering skills that require closer oversight from supervisor and senior level employees to ensure they are fulfilling job responsibilities and following program procedures.
