About The Position

Milliman is seeking a technically savvy, analytically strong Healthcare Data Analyst Lead to manage analytics and technology projects as well as coach and mentor junior analytical staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or related degree is preferred)
  • 6+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics or a related technical analytics role.
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Excel for data analysis, validation, and automation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other analytical languages.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or R Shiny).
  • Solid understanding of healthcare data structures, including claims, eligibility, and provider data.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Experience with cloud data technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, or similar).

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AI or Generative AI tools for data analysis, automation, or insight generation is preferred, but not required.
  • Deep understanding of database architecture and large-scale healthcare data environments.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage analytics and technology projects from data ingestion through delivery.
  • Design, develop, and optimize data processes and workflows supporting large healthcare datasets.
  • Perform and oversee ETL, validation, and transformation tasks for claims, eligibility, and pharmacy data.
  • Guide project teams through the full “data-to-deliverable” lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Build analytical models, dashboards, and data pipelines to support consulting engagements.
  • Collaborate with consultants, actuaries, and project managers to interpret results and deliver client insights.
  • Review and approve technical work from peers and junior analysts to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Mentor, coach, and delegate to analytical staff to strengthen technical and professional development.
  • Contribute to innovation and process improvement initiatives, including automation, cloud enablement, and AI integration.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, occasionally requiring travel.
