Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities and have excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care

  • Previous clerical experience in a health care setting

Responsibilities

  • Patient Reception & Registration: Warmly greet all patients and visitors, collecting, verifying, and entering all required paperwork and demographic information into the Electronic Health Record system
  • Scheduling & Communication: Schedule patient appointments for clinic and infusion visits, complete appointment reminder calls to patients, and communicate relevant changes or concerns involving staff or patients to nursing staff or manager, as appropriate
  • Medical Records & Documentation: Scan, file, and organize patient charts and documents, including daily batch setting; forward medical records to appropriate parties upon receiving valid release of information; maintain clinic and infusion documentation across Epic, Meditech, and paper records; ensure that additional medical record forms are properly labeled and placed in the chart
  • Authorization & Referrals: Complete prior authorizations for treatment and document in the HER, and coordinate referrals to specialists as directed by providers, including gathering required documents and initiating prior authorizations when necessary
  • Inventory & Supplies: Maintain an inventory of office supplies, ordering supplies as needed to support clinic operations
  • Interdepartmental Support: Assist Accounts Payable by providing documentation related to insurance denials
  • Administrative Support: Perform general secretarial tasks, including photocopying, faxing, and maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
