The H71 Digestive Disease General Surgery Unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus provides world-class care for patients needing many complex abdominal surgeries, including Total Abdominal Reconstruction, Whipple, HIPEC, MAL’s, Bowl Resection, Gastrectomy, Splenectomy, Liver Resection, Fistula Maintenance and Repair, and Pancreatectomy. Patients come to our unit from all over the world seeking our expertise in surgical intervention and care. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will ensure efficient operational flow of the department, allowing your fellow caregivers to continue providing optimal patient care. A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:00pm to 6:30am. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Nice To Haves

  • College degree
  • Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
