Hillcrest Hospital’s Coronary Care Unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic diagnoses, such as acute coronary syndrome/MI, potential lethal arrhythmias, pulmonary edema/complicated CHF, hemodynamic instability of a cardiac origin and post-cardiac arrest. The Coronary Care Unit has a dynamic work environment with an active Unit Shared Governance Council that organizes community outreach programs. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will ensure an efficient operational flow of the department, allowing your fellow caregivers to continue providing optimal patient care. A caregiver in this position works nights from 10:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
