About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units; coordinating work within the unit as well as with other units and departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries and requests from staff personnel, etc.

Requirements

• High School Graduate with at least 2 years of clerical experience in a medical setting
• Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. A Functional Job Description for this position is on file in the Human Resources Office and is available to all applicants for review.
• All job offers to persons that are not currently employed by Alomere Health will be conditional based on favorable references and successful completion of both a criminal background check and a drug test.

Nice To Haves

• Successful graduate of an approved Medical Secretarial Program preferred

Responsibilities

• Answer the telephone in a professional manner; direct calls to appropriate individuals and/or take messages
• Keep all necessary lists and schedules
• Maintain office supplies
• Fax and photocopy as needed
• Complete physician orders
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges
• Completing orders for the lab, radiology, etc
• Preparing documents for a transferred patient
• Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as within other units in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information
• Performs other duties as requested
• Participates in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings
• Demonstrates ability to use equipment relevant to the position
