About The Position

The Health Unit Assistant plays a key role in keeping our healthcare unit running smoothly. We’re looking for someone who brings strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized in a fast paced environment. As a central point of contact for staff, patients, families, and other departments, the HUA supports daily operations by managing administrative tasks, assisting with patient flow, and helping coordinate unit activities. This role is essential to creating an efficient, supportive, and well connected care environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of previous clerical, customer service or other experience in healthcare setting required.
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
  • Multicultural Sensitivity.
  • Microsoft Office-basic computer skills.
  • Customer/Patient focus.
  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgement in making decisions

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism and courtesy
  • Answer and route phone calls and unit communications promptly and accurately
  • Update and maintain patient records in the EHR system in line with privacy and documentation standards
  • Support patient flow by coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges with nursing and admitting teams
  • Assist with scheduling tests, procedures, and follow up appointments
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members to support safe, efficient patient care
  • Handle information with discretion and maintain a professional presence
