About The Position

The Health Unit Assistant (HUA) provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure smooth operations within a healthcare unit. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The HUA serves as a central point of contact for staff, patients, families, and other departments, assisting with administrative functions, patient flow, and assisting with unit activities. Requirements

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: 1 year of previous clerical, customer service or other experience in healthcare setting required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
Multicultural sensitivity.
Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
Customer/patient focused.

Responsibilities

Prioritizes dissemination of information using available technology.
Assists with maintaining readiness of patient care equipment.
Effectively and accurately maintains patient records.
Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.
Balances team and individual responsibilities; open and objective to other’s views; gives them welcome feedback; contributes to positive team goals; and puts the success of the team above own interests.
Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
Manages supplies and patient care supplies i.e., order, obtain and store supplies.
Stocks bedside carts and alcoves.
Washes various types of beds used in NICU (warmers, incubators, cribs).
