About The Position

The Health Tech works under the direction of the School Nurse and is responsible for providing basic health care, medication administration, and first aid to staff and students.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification required within 1 month of hire and Completion of health aide training modules within 2 months of hire
  • All offers of employment are conditional upon a successful background check and references.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA/CMA and/or Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience in school health or health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website
  • Provides basic first aid care to sick and injured students and staff.
  • Contacts 911, EMS, and/or school designated staff for major illness or serious injury.
  • Contacts parent/guardian or emergency contact for ill or injured students as needed in accordance with CEC policy.
  • Carries out health procedures as delegated by School Nurse, including medication administration in accordance with CEC policies and established protocols and guidelines.
  • Updates School Nurse regarding all student health-related issues and student absences for health reasons and documents the care and treatments provided to students.
  • Maintains accurate health information and ensures all health-related documents, including immunization records, immunization exemption forms, and Health Plans are uploaded into IC.
  • Works with Head of School regarding health-related requirements for student field trips.
  • Coordinates and performs vision and hearing screenings, including volunteer recruitment, data collections, referrals, and tracking follow up care.
  • Maintains and orders all health care-related supplies/equipment as directed by the School Nurse.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly health room.
  • Attends meetings and professional development as requested by the School Nurse.
  • Other duties as assigned.
