About The Position

PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work as the Health Service Administrator (HSA) in the medical department at the Butler County Prison located in Butler, PA. In this role, the HSA is the designated health authority whose responsibility is administratively overseeing the health care delivery system at the local facility This position provides a 2-week orientation period where you will be training on the job and shadowing with the nursing staff. Requirements

  • Holds an active Registered Nurse (RN) License to work in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Experience in the health care delivery system.
  • Decision-making ability required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility and management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate the performance of mental health, nursing, and clerical personnel.
  • Administrative supervision of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff.
  • Approve the nursing schedule and aid the nursing supervisor in recruiting replacement staff.
  • Counsel, discipline, suspend, and/or terminate employees who violate established policies/procedures of PCM or the facility in accordance with PCM’s Corrective Discipline Policy.
  • Complete the annual Personnel Action Notice for all directly supervised employees. Report to and meet with the Regional Coordinator on a regular basis (quarterly at a minimum).
  • Prepare and submit required statistical, narrative summary, and/or operational reports according to schedule (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Review the status of inmates/patients with serious acute and/or chronic health problems and ensure that necessary interventions and treatment are rendered.
  • Handle, in writing, all inmate/patient complaints/grievances. Report information to the Corporate Risk Manager.
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for length of stay and duration of follow-up. Activate early release procedure when indicated.
  • Administratively monitor and evaluate medical services to avoid the inappropriate use and/or duplication of services. Evaluate referrals to outside consults for applicable security restrictions and intervene when necessary.
  • Identify financial responsibility for expenses incurred by inmates/patients and report them to the corporate office.
  • Monitor any potential catastrophic illnesses/injuries and research appropriate channels to limit PCM and facility liabilities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost containment effectiveness.
  • Monitor and ensure strict compliance with all applicable pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain stock inventories and order supplies and equipment when indicated.
  • Monitor and evaluate physical safety requirements for inmates/patients and staff to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor disaster plans and coordinate drills with the facility at least annually.
  • Coordinate and/or provide in-service programs that are aligned with the medical program (at least monthly).
  • Is operationally responsible and accountable for the medical unit within a facility.
