About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Health Services, the Health Services Activities Manager provides residents in the licensed healthcare settings with recreational therapy services that meet the physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial wellbeing along with the individualized needs and interests of our residents. Develop and implement programs of interest and meaning in order to enhance their lives and exceed their active aging lifestyle expectations. The Activities Manager respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues, and staff. This is a safety sensitive position. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university; or minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years; one year of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program.
  • Previous experience working with older adults and in an activities setting required.
  • Prior experience managing a team or working in a supervisor capacity is required.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills is required.
  • Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and/or activity director certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems with the input and guidance of the Director of Health Services and Human Resources.
  • Maintains an effective and compassionate group of workers by interviewing, hiring, and training qualified candidates.
  • Continually monitors skill levels while training, coaching, and encouraging subordinates to use and enhance their skills.
  • Must be able to motivate while maintaining good working relationships with staff, residents, and families.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Develop and distribute level of care specific monthly calendar of activities and events for Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing residents.
  • Provide clinical services including one-to-one treatments, group treatments (1:4 ratio), co-treatments with other disciplines, community outings, and events.
  • Conduct assessments, interviews and chart reviews with clients/residents and/or family members.
  • Plan and development activity programs and treatment sessions.
  • Maintain documentation such as assessments, treatment/progress notes, MDS, CAAs, care plans, and daily charting in accordance with Medicare/Medicaid and PDPM reimbursement guidelines.
  • Implement treatment interventions based on client’s resident’s assessed needs, abilities, and limitations.
  • Evaluate efficacy and effectiveness of treatment interventions in relation to client progress.
  • Comply with Federal and State regulations, as well as professional Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
  • Ensure activity programming meets F-Tag requirements for Activities (F679-F689) and Memory Care.
  • Participate in AHCA and Joint Commission survey preparedness and regulatory audits for both health care facilities.
  • Attend meetings as part of the interdisciplinary team, including QAPI participation with performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provide consultation to the nursing staff in providing with physical, cognitive, emotional/behavioral, leisure and social interventions to clients.
  • Manages and supervises Activity Staff and volunteers.
  • Educate and advocate for Recreational Therapy and Therapeutic Recreation programs.
  • Attend and participate in professional workshops, conferences, and/or seminars to keep abreast of recent research and techniques.
  • Manage Health Services Activities budget, supplies, and resource allocation across ALF, MC and SNF.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
