About The Position

The Health & Safety Professional plays a critical role in promoting a safe, healthy, and inclusive living and working environment within the Office of Housing Administration (OHA). Working collaboratively with Housing leadership and campus partners, this position develops, implements, and evaluates environmental health and safety programs that support the well-being of students, staff, and the broader university community. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role applies professional expertise in environmental health and safety regulations, best practices, and risk mitigation to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. A professional certification may be required for some positions.
  • Working skills and knowledge of environmental health and safety principles, practices, methodologies, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting safety inspections and incident investigations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify environmental health and safety risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or other relevant fields preferred.
  • At least five years of customer service experience.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising professional staff.
  • Proficiency in the following Software programs: Office Suite and Google Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and Google Spreadsheets, Smartsheets, StarRez, Oracle I-Procurement, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Sign, Concur

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and deliver environmental health and safety programs in support of Housing Administration and university operations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments to promote compliance and a culture of safety.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to environmental health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Create, review, and assess policies and procedures related to environmental health and safety in collaboration with Housing leadership.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently while providing guidance or lead work direction as needed to support operational goals.
