Responsibilities The Health and Safety Manager functions as a key role in the EHS department keeping apprised of safety regulations and compliance requirements. They partner with the operations team to educate, provide resources and instruction to improve the health and safety of all employees. Summary Under general supervision, the Health and Safety Manager functions within the EHS group to implement the company’s EHS programs to maintain regulatory compliance and improve the health and safety culture of the facility. As part of this function, they manage the industrial hygiene sampling program and monitor employee exposures both internally and at customer locations. The H&S Manager acts as a thinkSAFE ambassador to improve safety awareness throughout the site and continually improve safe work practices by maintaining the H&S management system as well as engaging in safety conversations and coaching/training employees on best practices. Essential duties and responsibilities Develop, coordinate, and implement the Company’s health & safety processes to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations. Lead health & safety audits within Morgan facilities and develop corrective actions where required. Develop and conduct thinkSAFE and other H&S required training to ensure leadership development with regards to the thinkSAFE program. Develop, coordinate, and manage the Company’s regulatory, industrial hygiene, thinkSAFE programs and initiatives to ensure effective processes are in place across the site. Will lead the EHS technician to maintain all plant safety equipment including fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash stations, emergency lighting, ladder safety, forklift safety, etc. Lead safety culture initiatieves by creating a proactive safety program, developing a safety team, and instituting/refreshing programs to encourage safe behaviors Lead investigations of health and safety incidents. Perform job hazard assessments and recommend improvements in job safety. Perform industrial hygiene sampling and ergonomic assessments and provide reports to management with results, findings and planned corrective action. Maintain all H&S records of training, compliance, and OSHA logs; provide governmental reports as required. Qualifications Key result areas Safety program adherence Safety team leadership initiatives Regulatory Program Implementation - Responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing site's employee health & safety at the Augusta, GA site. Leads execution of a site EH&S Strategy to drive a facility safety culture of accountability. Manages daily activities to ensure interaction with facility management team and employees to increase awareness and education levels regarding safe and compliant work. Inspections - Conducts daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual safety inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions. Perform analysis to determine employee and property exposures, and institute safe work practices. Industrial Hygiene - Coordinates industrial hygiene sampling including airborne fiber monitoring and ensures conformance with HTIW PSP requirements Responsible for pre-start safety operations review and evaluation of manufacturing process and handling with respect to safety and airborne fiber exposure. Monthly Updates - Responsible for communicating monthly H&S updates with workforce. Prepare and present reports on accidents and/or compliance concerns and determine causes. Actively share and seek out knowledge (e.g. best practices, lessons learned, etc.). Coaching and Feedback - Conducts monthly coaching sessions with direct reports and provides regular feedback to workforce regarding TAKE 5 audits, assists with Peer-to-Peer observations, assists workforce with near miss and other H&S reporting requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to lead change in a manufacturing environment. Advocate the “why” with the workforce and leaders in support of the EHS programs and/or initiatives. thinkSAFE Refresh - Leads the thinkSAFE refresh program at the site level. Coordinate thinkSAFE and EHS Committees at site level. Act as primary contact. H&S Training – Coordinates the site training calendar and ensure training is provided by qualified persons and that training is effective (as demonstrated by site tours and worker observations).
