About The Position

The Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace environmental and health hazards to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. This role supports the organization in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by developing processes and procedures to ensure company compliance with federal, state and local health, safety and environmental requirements, conducting risk assessments, supporting the training needs of the function, monitoring occupational exposures, implementing effective hazard control strategies, and fostering compliance with industrial hygiene requirements through effective program implementation. The position plays a critical role in protecting personnel, the environment, property, and the organization from regulatory non-compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, and occupational safety.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, DNR and other regulatory standards.
  • Experience with industrial hygiene sampling equipment.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard control strategies.
  • Strong report and procedure writing and data analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state, federal and client specific health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to provide strong mentorship skills, fostering the growth and competence of less experienced project Health and Safety team members.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, healthcare, or industrial settings preferred.
  • CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
  • OSHA certifications (30-hour or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DNR, ISO standards).
  • Manage environmental programs related to air quality, water discharge, waste management, and hazardous materials.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental permits and regulatory reports.
  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections.
  • Industrial Hygiene Conduct workplace exposure assessments (chemical, biological, physical hazards).
  • Manage IH programs such as lead, asbestos and silica.
  • Perform air monitoring, noise monitoring, and other industrial hygiene sampling.
  • Analyze exposure data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement hazard control measures (engineering, administrative, PPE).
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory management.
  • Safety Program Management Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments.
  • Participate, as necessary in event analysis and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide and coordinate safety training and awareness programs to employees.
  • Monitor safety training compliance through company digital management system Support emergency response planning and drills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Monitoring & Reporting Maintain records of inspections, training, permitting, exposure monitoring, and compliance documentation.
  • Track safety performance metrics and prepare management reports.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Continuous Improvement Promote a culture of health, safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce risk and environmental impact.
