About The Position

RRNA is recruiting power generation or renewable energy industry professionals who are driven to develop, build and operate assets safely and reliably to help the company achieve its established global decarbonization goals. In order to transition to a decarbonized grid, large scale renewable energy projects must be introduced to the electricity system. To help with the transition our team is searching for individuals who have data-driven and fact-based mindsets, are capable of engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders and are growth-focused professionals. We are looking for an HSE Manager who will have the exciting opportunity to lead and drive an injury and environmental incident free culture in a fast-growing organization. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of HSE you will partner with the various RRNA teams, to ensure our projects are following all required programs and creating a positive environment for the safety of our employees, contractors, the environment, and RRNA's assets. It is required to establish and maintain clear lines of communication with internal customers, contractors, and subcontractors, maintain awareness of project specific HSE needs and address these with the appropriate RRNA team. This role will preferably be based out of the RRNA corporate offices in Houston, RRNA has projects actively under construction and operations and travel to various project sites will be required, and occasionally on short notice due to any incidents. The applicant should expect travel to total approximately 50% of their time - on average.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel (up to 50%).
  • Working knowledge of Federal OSHA, EPA, and various State regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable power generation and operational HSE standards.
  • Experience with developing and implementing EAPs, SPCC plans, sustainability, and waste management documentation.
  • Experience conducting health & safety field work, including site assessments, hazard analysis, inspections, and monitoring.
  • Ability to work constructively with the construction and operations teams to communicate site findings and follow through with solutions.
  • Willingness and physical capability to climb wind turbines.
  • Personal accountability and integrity.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills with an analytic and creative mindset.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic team player.
  • Independent self-starter capable of managing dynamic priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate findings, corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills as well as the ability to promote teamwork.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks and work independently under general supervision.
  • A minimum of a BS degree in engineering, environmental science or other HSE related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required.
  • At least 5 - 7 years of HSE program development, implementation, training, and leadership experience with a focus on business segments such as renewable energy or electric power generation.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP)) are a plus.
  • Passion for renewable energy and an entrepreneurial mindset are greatly appreciated.

Responsibilities

  • Manage HSE policies and guidelines, ensuring that they conform to regulatory requirements and the industry's best practices.
  • Clear capacity to identify and manage risks related to construction, commissioning, and operations of renewable energy projects.
  • Implementation of company contractual clauses, policies, procedures, and other commitments for renewable energy projects during construction and operations
  • Review and assess the implementation of emergency action plans (EAPs), vegetation management plans (VMPs), spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans, waste management plans and other site-specific items.
  • Participates and/or leads in HSE related discussions at site toolbox talks, contractor and RRNA staff meetings.
  • Organize and deliver various safety and environmental training.
  • Coordinate with RRNA construction and operations teams, and contractors to enhance their HSE competency and performance.
  • Perform regular site assessments and inspections on project sites to verify compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, permits and the contractor HSE management plan.
  • Coordinate and assist RRNA site management with incident investigations to determine root causes, recommend corrective actions and share lessons learned.
  • Submittal of various HSE reports and records on as required by the company, permitting agencies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and carry out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
  • Perform HSE tasks or other duties as required.
