Assist with the execution of mill safety programs. (e.g., control of hazardous energy, line break, confined spaces, working at heights, motorized equipment). Coordinating activities of the employee-based safety team, evaluating and improving the effectiveness of site programs, leading hazard assessments, and applying the hierarchy of controls to reduce exposures. Assist with the management of the mill industrial hygiene program by performing qualitative exposure assessments, developing exposure monitoring strategies, conducting comprehensive exposure monitoring and assisting with the development of exposure control recommendations. Develop and conduct health and safety training for the mill employees and management. Assist with the implementation and management of company health and safety standards and program elements Assist with local efforts around company initiatives such as internal self-audits, EHS compliance audits, contractor compliance, etc. Identify and lead implementation of constructive change within work area. Serve as the EHS lead on a mill weekend duty rotation. Collaborate with contractors to ensure compliance with mill safety standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct safety onboarding, monitor worksite practices, and provide guidance to promote a culture of safety for contractors. Work with all departments to drive safety engineering efforts across mill processes. Conduct/participate in investigations and event learnings for mill incidents.
