Position Overview Lilly is investing over $1 Billion to build a completely new, inspiring, and highly automated campus in Concord, North Carolina which will house warehousing & logistics, operations including parenteral, medical device assembly, and packaging, QC laboratories, and support teams to produce medicines for an unmet patient need. The HSE associate is responsible for leading and continuously improving their assigned HSE aspect programs The HSE associate also provides day-to-day, hands on support to area process and flow teams to coach, train, and resolve safety issues. The HSE associate contributes to site culture through governance processes and coaching leaders. The HSE associate works in a small team of peers to accomplish shared objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM or HSE-related program.
  • At least 5 years experience in dedicated HSE roles.
  • At least 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment in either HSE, engineering, or operations roles.
  • Ability to wear safety equipment (glasses, shoes, gloves, etc)
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day Monday through Friday with overtime as required to meet key objectives.
  • Ability to work some evening hours to connect with night shift employees.
  • Ability to respond after normal business hours to emergent plant issues.
  • Position may involve some travel, both domestically and internationally, for training and benchmarking with other Lilly sites.

  • Solid understanding of basic requirements of regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and NC Department of Environmental Quality.
  • Excellence in interpersonal, electronic, written, and oral communication
  • Strong facilitation and training skills.
  • cGMP standards and FDA (or other industry) guidelines for production
  • HSE incident investigation, including multiple root cause analysis methods.
  • Facilitating employee safety teams, with the goal of turning over leadership to operations employees.
  • Managing a contractor safety program across a large footprint.
  • Implementation of electronic permit to work systems
  • Behavior -based safety programs
  • Effective safety gemba processes
  • Emergency response in manufacturing environments
  • Interacting with regulatory agencies
  • Powered industrial trucks and automatic guided vehicles
  • Documentation, deviation and change management systems (e.g., Trackwise. Veeva, QualityDocs, Kneat)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve HSE safety aspect programs for the Concord site.
  • Collaborate with HSE peers to achieve shared objectives.
  • Support operating areas to improve safety results and culture.
  • Enhance safety culture through governance and coaching.
